On April 17th, Attorney John Dalli joined several other notable litigators and advocates in the elder law field in speaking at the 37th Annual Elder Law Institute, a one-day program hosted by the Practising Law Institute, a non-profit organization that has provided legal education in New York for nearly a century.
The event provided legal professionals with key insight into topics such as Medicaid eligibility, litigation in nursing home neglect and abuse cases, the SECURE Act, and laws and regulations surrounding nursing homes and resident rights. The event also provided an opportunity for attorneys to network and talk one-on-one with Dalli and the other speakers.
During Dalli’s presentation, “Personal Injury Lawsuits: Focus on Seniors in Nursing Homes,” attendees learned the basics of elder abuse and neglect litigation, exploring the nursing home system, resident rights, elder law as an institution, and nursing home reform laws. He also discussed the process for intake, investigating nursing home injuries, and how to initiate a personal injury lawsuit on behalf of nursing home residents.
With 18 years of experience in representing victims of elder abuse and neglect, Dalli offered valuable, hands-on insights, helping elder law litigators better understand the dangers facing seniors and how to fight back on behalf of victims. We hope that these efforts will eventually translate to more opportunities for victims and their families to gain access to the resources they need to pursue legal action against unethical and dangerous nursing home conditions.
