This case from 2012 has finally been brought to a conclusion which resulted in a guilty plea of trying to falsify records and a $10,000 fine. David Fielding, Medford’s former administrator along with eight employees of Medford were convicted of various crimes stemming from the death of the resident, Aurelia Rios, 72, of Central Islip. Medford staff told the family that she died of a heart attack but lawyers from the Attorney General’s office said that Rios died as a result of employees failing to connect her to a ventilator overnight and ignoring alarms that she had stopped breathing.
