Bio
Since 2007, John Dalli has focused his practice on nursing home negligence and elder abuse litigation. He represents residents and their families in cases involving pressure injuries, falls, dehydration, medication errors, sexual abuse, and other preventable harm in nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and hospitals.
John handles each case from the filing of the lawsuit through trial. He conducts depositions, oversees discovery, develops the evidence, and appears in court throughout proceedings that may span several years. Having handled hundreds of nursing home cases, he understands both the state and federal standards governing long-term care facilities and the complex medical evidence these claims often involve.
His commitment to this work is personal. When John’s father became ill, John helped manage his care while navigating Medicaid, nursing homes, and home health services. The experience gave him firsthand insight into the loss of control families often feel when they must entrust a loved one’s well-being to a facility. It also deepened his resolve to hold institutions accountable when understaffing, inadequate training, or profit-driven decisions place vulnerable residents at risk.
John begins every case by speaking with the family and learning about the person at its center. He recognizes that most families are not motivated primarily by financial recovery. They want to give a voice to someone who could not advocate for themselves, obtain accountability, and help prevent another family from experiencing the same harm. For John, a successful result is one that not only compensates a family but also makes neglect costly enough to encourage meaningful changes in facility practices.
Among John’s notable results is a $5.5 million verdict for the estate of a nursing home resident who developed a fatal pressure injury. Through careful discovery, he uncovered electronic metadata revealing that the facility’s records did not accurately reflect when care was provided. John then used those discrepancies during his cross-examination of the facility’s medical expert, helping secure a unanimous verdict after just 45 minutes of deliberation. The case illustrates his ability to analyze complex medical records, expose failures in care, and present a family’s story clearly and persuasively at trial.
Born in Brooklyn and raised in Queens, John maintains deep ties to the communities he serves. He regularly speaks to bar associations and other professional groups about long-term care, nursing home negligence, and elder abuse litigation.
