Another Nursing Home Sold to a Luxury Housing Developer

Nursing Home abuse can take many forms; Bedsores, Dehydration, Physical Abuse, Medication Errors and even the relocation of patients to other facilities without proper notice.  Nursing Home owners are putting profits before the needs and rights of patients. CABS nursing home in Brooklyn was sold to a luxury housing developer by the same owners who sold Rivington House to a developer for $116 Million Dollars. The Rivington House sale was more than four times the purchase price. Nursing Home Facilities are required to give the NY State Department of Health 90 days notice when transferring patients and also submit a detailed plan on how the patients will be transferred. The NY State Department of Health must then approve the plan before the transfers take place. The law requires that the transfer be in the patient’s best interest. Patients have a right to 30 day notice and an appeals process. This was not done.
